1. Several common causes of slow SolidWorks startup and suggested ways to improve and pinpoint the cause of the slowness.
Load third-party plugins at startup. These 3rd party libraries need to be loaded into the SolidWorks core module and therefore cause more time.
Suggestion: Try closing all third-party plugins at startup to see if startup speed improves.
2. Other running processes and services may affect the speed at which the library is loaded.
Recommendation: Run MSCONFIG Goal: Cancel all unnecessary services and processes, determine if other processes are affecting startup speed. Consult with your administrator before disabling certain services.
a. Go to Start > Run > Type msconfig and press Enter
b. Go to the Services tab
c. Tick the “Hide all Microsoft Services” checkbox
d. Except for “SolidWorks Licensing Service”, “FLEXnet Licensing Service” and ” FLEXnet Licensing Service 64″ (if applicable), clear all services
e. Go to “Startup” tab f. Deselect all programs that are not Microsoft® or NVIDIA®.
When done, click OK to close the utility and restart the computer.
After rebooting, you will be prompted to run in diagnostic mode.
Close this window without making any changes.
3. System maintenance is required, the hard disk is too fragmented; this may affect loading files from hard disk I/O. You also need to clean up where temporary files are stored.
Recommendation:
a) Open SolidWorks RX
b) Click the System Maintenance tab
c) Enable Clean SolidWorks Temporary Files Directory, Clean Windows Temporary Files Directory, Clean Temporary Internet Files, and run the Windows Disk Defrag tool (select the action with SolidWorks installation files system drive letter and drive).
